CONCERT CHORUS
The Concert Chorus of the Tulsa Children’s Chorus is comprised of third through sixth grade students. The Concert Chorus learns and performs challenging choral repertoire in unison, and up to four treble parts, in different languages and from different cultures. Correct posture, vowel pronunciation, beginning solfege, breathing exercises, use of head tone, and listening for and producing accurate intonation, as well as consistent and intense vocal technique training through correct breathing, vocal warm-ups, and music literacy exercises are emphasized.
At the end of a singer’s 6th grade year in school, dependant upon consistent rehearsal and committed performance attendance, and with a minimum of 1 year dedicated membership in Concert Chorus, a singer may audition to move up to the Tulsa Youth Chorale.
Tulsa Youth Chorale (TYC) is a chorus of treble voices of experienced singers in seventh through twelfth grades. TYC learns challenging SSA choral literature with an emphasis on advanced vocal development, blend, a capella singing, and choral technique.
